First-Year Teacher Receives Heart of Education Award

Patrick Evans, a first-year teacher at Jonesboro Elementary School, received the Drummond Heart of Education Award. Evans was recognized for his dedication and support of his students, school officials said. The award includes a $1,000 prize, which Evans plans to use to purchase iPads for his classroom. Evans will also be featured in a commercial on ABC3340. His class and the school's Safety Patrol were treated to ice cream in celebration. School officials congratulated Evans for his achievement and praised his leadership.
